This past month has been an unwelcome reminder that identity theft is on the rise. Target and Neiman Marcus are the two high profile retailers whose networks were breached over the holiday season; however, at least three other well-known smaller U.S. retailers were breached.

CisCom’s own Tim Barrett has been named a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for the year 2014. The Microsoft MVP Award is an annual award that recognizes exceptional technology community leaders worldwide who actively share their high quality, real world expertise with users and with Microsoft.

Computerworld - Microsoft yesterday again put the scare into Windows XP users, telling them that after April 8, 2014, the chance that malware will infect their PCs could jump by two-thirds.

Recently, I attended the Grand Opening of the Microsoft store in Cincinnati. When I arrived, I saw droves of young kids there, lining up for the ribbon cutting. I could not believe there was such fanfare for Microsoft’s newest operating system.
