Important Adobe Security Notice

Adobe updated a critical security bulletin yesterday involving all versions of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader.  Users are advised to take precautions to avoid program vulnerabilities which are being exploited via the internet.  The vulnerability involves buffer overflow issues and is rated as critical.  If implemented, an attacker can take control of the affected system.  Additionally, the vulnerability can cause the application to crash.  The vulnerability identifier is APSA09-01 and is discussed in Adobe Security Bulletin titled "Buffer overflow issue in versions 9.0 and earlier of Adobe Reader and Acrobat" released Feb. 19 and updated Feb. 24.  The bulletin includes the following information:

"Reports have been published that disabling JavaScript in Adobe Reader and Acrobat can protect users from this issue. Disabling JavaScript provides protection against currently known attacks. However, the vulnerability is not in the scripting engine and, therefore, disabling JavaScript does not eliminate all risk. Should users choose to disable JavaScript, it can be accomplished following the instructions below:
1.       Launch Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
2.       Select Edit>Preferences
3.       Select the JavaScript Category
4.       Uncheck the 'Enable Acrobat JavaScript' option
5.       Click OK
A security bulletin will be published on http://www.adobe.com/support/security as soon as product updates are available."

Users are also advised to make certain that antivirus software is operational and up to date and to take care when opening files from untrusted sources.  Adobe plans to release updates for Acrobat Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 by March 11, with updates for earlier versions of the software to follow.

googleGOOGLE HELPS CUSTOMERS FIND YOU

This Google tip focuses on Google's mapping capabilities.  Google maps is a great tool for travel and for your business.  Google offers interactive mapping features such as basic directions and maps of various locations at differing scales.  It also offers users the ability to access a vast collection of photographs and satellite imagery. If you do not like the recommended path of a set of directions, you can modify the route by dragging the proposed route on the map to the desired road.

Another great feature of maps is that you can have a customized map generated for your business which is linked to your google listing. You can also generate custom maps for use on your company's website.  To access your business account, go to Google's Local Business Center.
